HW data analysis & reporting - projects

Below is a selection of hazardous waste data analysis & reporting projects recently completed by Ascend Waste and Environment.

Hazardous waste in Australia 2017 (2017, AUS. GOV. Department of the Environment & Energy)

Ascend Waste and Environment, along with partners Blue Environment and Randell Environmental Consulting, conducted a large hazardous waste data collation and analysis project for the Australian Government. Ascend’s role was to write Australia’s foremost analytical piece on current-year hazardous waste market activity, Hazardous waste in Australia 2017. Building on the inaugural 2015 version of the report (see below), Hazardous waste in Australia 2017 provides:

  • the authoritative source of hazardous waste generation and management data in Australia, that includes sources, amounts, trends, types, pathways and fates of hazardous waste in 2014-15

  • analysis and commentary on issues with particular wastes and their management to improve understanding of what works well and where barriers may lie to more effective management of Australia’s hazardous wastes

  • a detailed narrative of sources, fates and trends of over 70 wastes categorised into 30 waste groups, plus an incisive look into emerging and future wastes and issues.

Australia's 2016 Basel report (2017, Aus. gov. Department of the Environment)

In line with previous years, Ascend supported Blue Environment in the collation of Australia’s report to the Basel Convention Secretariat in Switzerland, of hazardous waste generation volumes for the reporting year 2016, plus a number of related hazardous waste data and reporting improvements within the project.

Australia's 2015 Basel report (2016, Aus. gov. Department of the Environment)

In line with previous years, Ascend supported Blue Environment in the collation of Australia’s report to the Basel Convention Secretariat in Switzerland, of hazardous waste generation volumes for the reporting year 2014, plus a number of related hazardous waste data and reporting improvements within the project.

Australia's 2014 Basel report (2015, Aus. gov. Department of the Environment)

In line with previous years, Ascend supported Blue Environment in the collation of Australia’s report to the Basel Convention Secretariat in Switzerland, of hazardous waste generation volumes for the reporting year 2013, plus a number of related hazardous waste data and reporting improvements within the project.

Australia's 2013 Basel report (2014, Aus. gov. Department of the Environment)

Ascend supported Blue Environment in the collation of Australia’s report to the Basel Convention Secretariat in Switzerland, of hazardous waste generation volumes for the reporting year 2013.

National standard for hazardous waste data & reporting (2016, Aus. gov. Department of the Environment)

Ascend Waste and Environment, along with partners Blue Environment and Randell Environmental Consulting, have drafted a national standard for hazardous waste data classification, collection, quality control, and reporting. This standard is anticipated to provide a significant step forward for industry and governments in more consistently managing the generation, tracking and fate of hazardous waste across Australia.

Hazardous waste in Australia 2015 (2015, AUS. GOV. Department of the Environment)

The inaugural Hazardous Waste in Australia report (HWiA 2015), which provided a national report on hazardous waste data sources, arisings, historical trends, fates and a detailed analysis for 2012-13 and 2013 data.
